Chris Kamara Receives MBE from Prince William

Chris Kamara, the much-loved football pundit and former player, has been awarded an MBE by Prince William for his services to football, charity and anti-racism work.

Kamara, who is best known for his appearances on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday, was presented with the honour at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday.

The 63-year-old, who was born in Middlesbrough, began his career as a professional footballer in 1975, playing for teams such as Swindon Town, Brentford and Portsmouth.

He then moved into management, taking charge of teams such as Bradford City, Stoke City and Leeds United.

Kamara has also been a regular on our TV screens since the early 2000s, when he began appearing on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday.

His enthusiasm and passion for the game, as well as his unique catchphrases, have made him a firm favourite with viewers.

Kamara has also been a tireless campaigner for anti-racism in football, and has been involved in a number of initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion in the sport.

He has also been a long-time supporter of the charity, Show Racism the Red Card, and has been a patron of the organisation since 2011.

Kamara has also been involved in a number of other charitable causes, including the Prince’s Trust, the British Heart Foundation and the NSPCC.

Speaking after receiving his MBE, Kamara said: “I am absolutely delighted to receive this honour. It is a huge privilege and I am very proud to be recognised in this way.

“I have been fortunate enough to have had a long and successful career in football, both as a player and a manager, and I am grateful for the opportunities that the game has given me.

“I am also proud of the work I have done to promote anti-racism in football and to support a number of charities.

“I would like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my career and I am looking forward to the future.”

Kamara’s MBE is a fitting recognition of his long and distinguished career in football, as well as his tireless work in promoting anti-racism and supporting a number of charities.

He is a true football legend and a role model for many, and his MBE is a testament to his commitment to the game and to making a positive difference in the world.
