UFC star Conor McGregor has taken to Twitter to vent his frustrations at fellow fighter Charles Oliveira ahead of his upcoming fight with Michael Chandler.
The Irishman, who is set to face Chandler at UFC 257 on January 23, took to the social media platform to express his displeasure at Oliveira’s recent comments.
In a now-deleted tweet, McGregor wrote: “Charles Oliveira, you are a fool. You have no respect for yourself or the sport. You talk a big game but you are nothing. I will show you what a real fighter looks like when I face Michael Chandler.”
McGregor’s outburst came after Oliveira had suggested that the former two-division champion was “scared” of facing Chandler.
The Brazilian had said: “Conor is scared of Michael Chandler. He knows he can’t beat him. He’s scared of the fight and that’s why he’s trying to avoid it.”
McGregor’s response was swift and scathing, and it appears that the Irishman is determined to prove Oliveira wrong when he steps into the octagon with Chandler.
McGregor has been out of action since January 2020, when he defeated Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds. He has since been linked with a number of potential opponents, including Oliveira, but it appears that the fight with Chandler is the one that has caught his attention.
The fight between McGregor and Chandler is set to be one of the most highly anticipated bouts of 2021, and it will be interesting to see how the Irishman fares against the former Bellator champion.
McGregor is known for his brash and outspoken nature, and his recent outburst at Oliveira is just another example of his willingness to speak his mind.
It remains to be seen whether McGregor will be able to back up his words when he steps into the octagon with Chandler, but one thing is for sure – the fight is sure to be an exciting one.
