Conor McGregor appears to have hit back at Liam Neeson after the actor slammed him as a ‘leprechaun’ who ‘gives Ireland a bad name’.
The Irish UFC star, 32, took to Twitter on Wednesday to share a picture of himself with the caption: ‘Liam Neeson, I’ve got my own back.’
The post comes after Neeson, 68, made the comments about McGregor during an interview with The Independent.
The Taken star said: ‘I think he’s very good at self-promotion. He’s a very, very brash young fellow.
‘I’m not a fan of his. I think he gives Ireland a bad name. I’m sure he’s a very nice young man, but I just don’t like the way he carries himself.

McGregor’s post on Wednesday was met with a mixed response from his fans, with some praising him for standing up for himself and others urging him to ignore the comments.
One fan wrote: ‘You don’t need to prove anything to anyone. You’re a champion and you’re an inspiration to many.’

McGregor has been a controversial figure in the past, with his brash attitude and outspoken nature often making headlines.
He has been involved in a number of high-profile incidents, including a brawl in a Brooklyn nightclub in 2018 and a bus attack in New York in April of the same year.
However, he has also been praised for his philanthropic work, including donating $1 million to a charity in Ireland in 2018.
It remains to be seen whether McGregor will respond further to Neeson’s comments, but it appears he is not willing to take them lying down.
