In Match 17 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, India is set to go head-to-head with neighbouring rivals Bangladesh on Thursday, October 19. The intense battle will take place at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

A highly anticipated showdown is expected between the Bangladeshi skipper Shakib Al Hasan and the Indian batting icon, Virat Kohli, in the upcoming match. Notably, Shakib has dismissed Virat an impressive five times in ODI cricket. The encounter promises an intriguing battle of skills and strategies between the two cricketing masterminds of the modern day era.

Virat’s praiseworthy remarks for Shakib

Virat acknowledged Shakib’s exceptional skills, describing him as an experienced and controlled bowler who can create pressure and take wickets, emphasizing the need to perform at best against such talents.

Over the years, I’ve played a lot against him. He’s got amazing control. He’s a very experienced bowler. He bowls very well with the new ball, knows how to deceive the batsman, and is also very economical. You have to play your best against all these bowlers, and if you aren’t able to, these bowlers are able to create pressure and increase the chances of getting you out.” Kohli said on Star Sports.

Shakib’s admiration for Virat

With five dismissals of Virat in ODIs to his credit, Shakib shared that he is determined to sustain his success as the two teams prepare to face off on Thursday.

“He’s a special batsman, probably the best batsman in the modern era. I think I’m lucky to get him out 5 times. Of course, it will give me great pleasure, taking his wicket.” Shakib mentioned.
