India‘s pace sensation, Jasprit Bumrah, shares insights into dealing with the immense pressure and towering expectations that come with competing in the ODI World Cup 2023. Regarded as one of the world’s premier bowlers, Bumrah has made a remarkable return following a year-long injury layoff.

With ten wickets to his name in four games, Bumrah currently stands as the second-leading wicket-taker in the ongoing global showpiece event. Bumrah’s perspective on handling pressure
Despite the intense pressure and high expectations, Bumrah, speaking to ICC digital insider, conveys that he doesn’t perceive the grand stage as a pressure cooker situation. Instead, he views it as an opportunity to express his skills and deliver his best.
“I don’t really look at it as pressure or responsibility because as a child I wanted to be a cricketer. I wanted to play for India. I wanted to do the difficult job. I wanted to make my team win. So that is what I’m doing,” Bumrah said.

The speedster also emphasizes that he draws from his wealth of experience to excel in high-stress situations, and the concept of pressure or expectations doesn’t occupy his mind.
“I’ve learned a lot over the years. I tried to use my experience, I’ve played a lot in this country. So you use my experience and try to help the team as much as you can because if you think about pressure and expectation and responsibility, you won’t be able to perform with that baggage of expectation,” the 29-year-old concluded.
Bumrah’s brilliance against Pakistan
Recognizing his outstanding performance, Bumrah was awarded the Player of the Match in India’s recent World Cup fixture. His brilliant spell of 2/19 in seven overs against Pakistan in Ahmedabad showcased his remarkable prowess and underlined his significance in India’s World Cup journey.
