Virat Kohli smashes powerful six in practice for Bangladesh Tests

Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli shattered a wall at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai during a practice session ahead of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. The incident took place on Sunday (September 15) as Kohli prepared for his first Test match since January, following a break to welcome the birth of his second child.

Virat Kohli’s powerful hit against the spinner

Kohli, who has been in formidable form, was seen in the nets putting in the hard yards, showcasing an array of shots that left spectators in awe. However, it was a particular six that sent shockwaves through the stadium, as the ball traveled with such force that it broke a wall near the Indian dressing room. A video of the incident, shared by Jio Cinema, quickly went viral, capturing the moment when Kohli’s powerful shot made contact with the wall, leaving fans and teammates astonished.

Following the explosive practice session, Kohli was spotted engaging in a lengthy discussion with head coach Gautam Gambhir. The two former teammates exchanged insights on batting techniques, with Gambhir animatedly explaining strategies while Kohli listened intently. This interaction highlights Kohli’s commitment to refining his skills as he gears up for the challenges ahead.

Kohli eyes Sachin Tendulkar’s another Test record

As Kohli prepares for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, he stands on the brink of a significant milestone. He is just 58 runs away from becoming the fastest player in history to reach 27,000 runs in international cricket, a record currently held by Sachin Tendulkar. If Kohli achieves this feat within his next eight innings, he will surpass Tendulkar’s record of 623 innings to reach the milestone, further solidifying his status as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of the game.

In addition to this remarkable achievement, Kohli also aims to become the fourth Indian batter to score 9,000 runs in Test cricket, joining the ranks of legends like Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. However, he is set to be the slowest among them to reach this landmark.

The upcoming Test series against Bangladesh is crucial for India, not only for Kohli’s personal milestones but also for the team’s standing in the ICC World Test Championship. India are currently at the top of the points table and aims to maintain their impressive home record, having not lost a series at home since 2012. Historically, India have dominated Bangladesh in Test matches, with 11 wins and two draws in 13 encounters.
