While India may have lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, several positives emerged for the Indian team for the future. Prominent among these was all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy who made highlights with his batting amidst a dreadful show from Indian batters throughout the series.

Nitish Kumar Reddy gets a hero’s welcome in Hyderabad

The Indian team returned from Australia after a long and tiring series. The team is now set to face England in the ODI and T20I series on home soil ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025. Thus, a long season of white-ball cricket awaits after India’s recent failure to win the BGT 2024-25, a first in almost a decade.

Amidst contrasting emotions on the current form of the Indian team, images of Reddy’s welcome at the airport in his hometown Hyderabad has managed to lift the spirits of the country up before the prestigious ICC tournament. In the video, Reddy can be seen being welcomed with a garland at the Hyderabad airport and flowers being showered on the youngster in a show of fans’ love for the sensational all-rounder. Reddy was then taken to an open car while with his father standing above him amidst a sea of people who came to the airport to see a glimpse of the 21-year-old.

Reddy heroics saved the Indian team in Melbourne

Reddy became a hero after saving the team in the Boxing Day Test team after the entire Indian batting order fell to the Australian onslaught like a pack of cards. The Aussies in their first innings made a mammoth 474 runs. In response, the Indian batting order crashed completely amidst consistent dismissals. It was during these desperate times that Reddy along with Washington Sundar scripted a remarkable 127-run partnership to save the Indian innings from the humiliation of a follow-on. Reddy with an epic 114 runs innings helped India put 369 runs on the board from 221/7 at one time and poised the Indian total close to Australia’s first innings score. Reddy was the 4th highest run-scorer in the series with 298 runs in 9 innings to his name.
