CRISTIANO RONALDO dropped a massive hint he plans to stay at Manchester United by claiming he is “happy and excited” by Erik ten Hag’s appointment.
SunSport revealed Ronaldo has been weighing up his future and told pals he is up for staying on — if Ten Hag wants him.
The Portuguese superstar has urged United chiefs to give time to Ten Hag so he can sort out the farce at Old Trafford and end five years of trophyless agony.
Ronaldo, who has hit 24 goals this season, said: “We are happy and excited, not only as players, but the supporters as well.
“I wish him the best and let’s believe that, next year, we are going to win trophies.
“What I know about him is he did a fantastic job for Ajax, that he’s an experienced coach. But we need to give him time.
“Things need to change in the way he wants.
“I hope we have success, of course, because, if you have success, all of Manchester is going to have success as well. I wish him the best.”
Ronaldo wants to see out the final year of his contract at Old Trafford despite the club not lining up in the Champions League come the autumn.
Even a Europa League place isn’t guaranteed yet, meaning Ronaldo could be lining up in the lowly Europa Conference League next term.

But despite fears Ronaldo would look to cut his emotional return to United short, he looks set to continue.
That being if Ten Hag has the 37-year-old as part of his plans for the future.
Ronaldo is also understood to be keen to remain in the UK as his son Cristiano Jr has settled into life at United’s academy.
And he believes partner Georgina Rodriguez — who previously lived in the UK while working as a nanny prior to meeting him in Madrid — will benefit from stability as they cope with the new arrival of their baby daughter and tragic loss of her twin brother.
