Arsenal will officially complete the signing of Christian Norgaard from Brentford imminently, according to David Ornstein.

Ornstein reports that Arsenal have finalised the signing of Norgaard for a fee of €12 million plus €2m in bonuses.

Ben Jacobs adds that Norgaard could be an Arsenal player by the end of Wednesday.

Norgaard to Arsenal

Norgaard is expected to play a back-up role to Martin Zubimendi next campaign, with Arsenal completing the signings of two new midfielders following Jorginho’s move to Flamengo and Thomas Partey’s release on a free transfer.

The Denmark international made 196 first-team appearances for Brentford across a six-year spell with the Bees, following his arrival from Fiorentina for €3.5m in 2019.

Norgaard signed a new two-year contract extension at Brentford in March, however will now leave the club ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

FootballTransfers revealed earlier this month that Tottenham were interested in signing Brentford captain Norgaard.

Spurs have appointed former Bees boss Thomas Frank as their new head coach following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, with the Danish tactician keen to work with Norgaard again.

However, Arsenal beaten their rivals to the Denmark star.

Norgaard has been Brentford’s captain since 2023 and was nigh on ever-present when fit and available. In the season just gone, he made 34 Premier League appearances and chipped in with a respectable five goals and four assists.

The 35-time Denmark international has shown that he is capable of performing at a solid Premier League level and is seen as a valuable squad player at the Emirates.

Brentford are at risk of being completely disassembled, as they are about to lose Bryan Mbeumo this summer.
