Davide Ancelotti has bounced back rapidly after being knocked back by Scottish Premiership club Rangers, with the son of coaching legend Carlo landing a big job a matter of hours after the setback.
Ancelotti was one of the leading candidates to take the manager’s role at Ibrox but ultimately Russell Martin landed the job.
Now the former Real Madrid assistant coach is set to hook up with his father Carlo once again, with the Brazil FA (CBF) confirming that he will take a role in the new-look setup prior to the 2026 World Cup.
“The CBF welcomes Davide Ancelotti and is confident that his presence will be an important reinforcement in the Brazilian National Team’s journey towards its objectives.”
Ancelotti had been linked with a handful of job around Europe, with Serie A side Como another club that were said to be studying his profile.
But now the 35-year-old will work alongside his dad with Brazil, with the announcement arriving just hours after he was snubbed by the Glasgow club. Ancelotti will join up with the squad for a World Cup qualifier against Paraguay on Tuesday.
Ancelotti with work to do
Carlo Ancelotti’s first game in charge of the Selecao ended in a scoreless draw with Ecuador in what is a ferociously tight CONMEBOL qualifying group.
Brazil sit fourth in the standings on 22 points, although with six of the 10 nations automatically qualifying for World Cup 2026, there should be no issues with the Italian guiding the nation into the finals with just three matches to play.
