Dillian Whyte tears into 'strange guy' Anthony Joshua after ex-heavyweight champion's refused to discuss the undisputed clash between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois

Dillian Whyte has taken aim at Anthony Joshua and torn into the former two-time heavyweight champion following a recent interview, insisting ‘everything’s not all about him’.

The 37-year-old, who is set to return to the ring next month, labelled his compatriot a ‘strange guy’ and a ‘d***head’ before accusing him of ‘chatting s***’.

His comments follow a recent interview where Joshua struggled to keep his cool when asked about the upcoming heavyweight clash between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois.

The 35-year-old, who has suffered defeats at the hands of both men, claimed that he did not want to promote another fighter’s bout, adding: ‘I don’t want to talk about it. I’ll be honest with you, I don’t want to talk about it.’

In response, Whyte has issued a stunning rebuke in which he stressed how commonplace it is for fighters to share their opinions on upcoming, highly-anticipated clashes.

‘Joshua’s a d*** head,’ he told iFL TV.  ‘He just chats s*** – everything’s not all about him you know that’s just a d*** head thing to do.

‘When you’re fighting, they ask other fighters about your fight and other fighters give their opinions. He just chats s*** sometimes man. He’s such a strange guy.’

Joshua has lost twice on points to Usyk before being knocked out by Dubois at Wembley Stadium last September. Dubois will return to Wembley on July 19 when he attempts to gain revenge for his 2023 defeat by Usyk and become undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

Following his initial reluctance to answer a routine question, iFL TV interviewer, Kugan Cassius, appeared a little taken aback and pushed the former two-time heavyweight champion on why he was so reluctant to speak about the fight.

Joshua was unable to hide his frustration with the line of questioning, firing back: ‘Why you asking me for? Turn the camera off and ask me about it.

‘You’re asking me about it in front of the bright lights and put it out in front of the media to promote your channel and their fight. I’m not doing it.’

Cassius tried to laugh off the awkward moment, reminding Joshua that the bout will be broadcast on DAZN, the same platform that he fights on.

But Joshua still didn’t seem happy to elaborate on how the fight would play out.

‘It’s not my interest,’ he added. ‘But it will be a good fight and good luck to both of them.’

Joshua was more open when discussing his future with Mail Sport over the weekend when he attended Canelo Alvarez’s fight with William Scull in Saudi Arabia.

The 35-year-old hinted that he is still keen to finally settle the score with Tyson Fury later this year after the Gypsy King teased a retirement U-turn last week.

However, Joshua revealed in a separate interview that he is set to undergo elbow surgery this month, which will delay his return to the ring.

He has not fought since losing to Dubois eight months ago, and now looks unlikely to make his comeback until the latter stages of 2025.

Joshua fought Whyte at the 02 Arena in 2015 and prevailed via knockout after seven rounds. It was the first time in Joshua’s professional career that anyone had taken him beyond the third round.

Whyte and Joshua also met on the amateur circuit in 2009 where Whyte came out on top.
