Diogo Dalot is guaranteeing that tough love from Ruben Amorim will bring success to Manchester United.
Reaching Wednesdayâs Europa League final against Tottenham cannot disguise a disastrous domestic campaign for United that saw Amorim question whether his players cared enough following last weekendâs home defeat by West Ham.
Fellow Portuguese Dalot said: âIt hurts because I donât want to hear my manager feels that about my team-mates. He doesnât hide his emotions. That makes him an honest person, which is hard to find nowadays.
âHe is a nice guy but he can still give stick to everybody. He isnât afraid to say what he thinks. He will not change for anybody because he thinks he is best for the club and I can guarantee you it is best for the club.â
Amorim is paying for families of his backroom staff to attend Wednesdayâs match after the club axed freebies to cut costs.
âIt is an amazing gesture,â said Dalot.Â

Amorim questioned how much Man United care following a defeat by West Ham last weekend

Dalot highlighted Man United captain Bruno Fernandes as the example they need to live up to
âIt shows how much he is willing to pay, in this case literally for everybody at United to be together.â
Another Portuguese influencer, Bruno Fernandes, can become the first captain to lead United to cup final success in three consecutive seasons.Â
The 30-year-old skippered the team to victory against Newcastle in the 2023 Carabao Cup final â Harry Maguire was on the bench â and was club captain by the time they defeated Manchester City in last seasonâs FA Cup final.
Dalot said: âThe way he behaves with everyone is a great example for us. We need to follow him.â
