Thomas Tuchel has recalled Ivan Toney and named an uncapped Chelsea star in his England squad for next month’s matches against Andorra and Senegal.
Toney has not been involved in the England setup since last summer’s Euros after moving to Saudi Arabia at the start of the season.
It appeared that his international career was over, but Toney has been rewarded for a strong season at Al-Ahli that has seen him score 29 goals in 43 appearances.
He is joined in the squad by Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah. The 25-year-old earns his first international call-up after being sent out on loan to Crystal Place at the start of the campaign.
Having impressed at Selhurst Park in the first half of the season, Chalobah was recalled by Chelsea in January and has become a mainstay in the backline since returning under Enzo Maresca.
However, there is no place in his squad for Phil Foden after a difficult season for the Manchester City midfielder.
Foden was named the Premier League player of the year 12 months ago as City won their fourth straight title, but has admitted to mental fatigue and struggled with fitness issues this term which has led to him being omitted by Tuchel.
