But German outlet Bild say Haaland, 21, has an arrangement whereby he can leave the Etihad after just two years for €150m.
The striker’s departure from the Bundesliga was all but sealed this week as Dortmund confirmed he currently has a £64m release clause.
Haaland’s 85 goals in 88 games for the German giants made him the most-wanted finisher in the world.
And he is thought to have had tests in Brussels on Monday connected to the move.
At the same time, Dortmund told told Sport1: “The players have no training today and we allowed Erling to take care of personal matters.”
