EVERTON and Newcastle are both trying to sign Sunderland wonderkid Chris Rigg.
The 14-year-old is incredibly rated in the £1million class, despite his tender years.
The midfield dynamo is at the Black Cats academy and tipped to move in the summer to one of the Premier League clubs.
Rigg has risen through the ranks and already plays in the Sunderland Under-18 team.
He has two goals in seven games in the U18 Premier League, and one assist.
The local lad comes from a family who support Newcastle United but he may head for Merseyside.
The race is intense as experts say Rigg is the best player in the country in his age group.
Over the years, Sunderland have produced a number of top talents who have reached the top.
Liverpool star Jordan Henderson came through the Academy of Light, before moving to the Reds in a £16million deal.
While England No1 Jordan Pickford was another who moved onto pastures new from the Black Cats – signing for Everton for £22.5million.

Rigg’s fee is unlikely to eclipse those two deals.
Sunderland will loathe to lose their latest talent, but understand they cannot compete with clubs in the Premier League when it comes to continuing their football education.
