Ex-Man Utd and Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez terminating Inter Milan contract early to seal free transfer to Marseille

ALEXIS SANCHEZ has reached an agreement in principle to terminate his Inter Milan contract ahead of a move to Marseille.

The former Manchester United and Arsenal man, 33, still has one year left on his deal with the Italian giants.

But in order to facilitate a move to France, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that he will leave Inter with immediate effect.

Sanchez’s premature departure will see the club pay him £3.77million in compensation.

And he will also be on the transfer market as a free agent, with Marseille closing in on a deal for the Chilean forward.

According to L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 outfit have been in talks with the player for several weeks.

Now Marseille are confident of finalising a move – with Sanchez also keen as it will enable him to continue playing Champions League football.

He spent three seasons at Inter – the first on loan from Manchester United before agreeing a permanent transfer in 2020.

The South American scored 20 goals and provided 23 assists in 108 appearances for the three-time European champions.

And his crowning achievement was helping them win the Serie A title under Antonio Conte in 2021.

However, last season Sanchez was largely reduced to a role off the bench.

And he will be hoping a fresh start can see him rekindle the best years of his career which he enjoyed in Spain and England.

He netted 47 times in 141 games for Barcelona during a three-year spell, before joining Arsenal and scoring 80 goals in 166 matches.

However, his time at Man Utd was a major failure as he hit the back of the net just five times in two seasons at Old Trafford.
