There is a ‘good chance’ Bryan Mbeumo could reject Tottenham for Manchester United if Thomas Frank’s new side are able to agree a fee with Brentford, the Transfers Podcast understands.
United have submitted an offer for Mbeumo worth more than £60 million (€70m) but Brentford are thought to be holding out for a fee closer to £70m (€82m) for their top scorer.

“The indication from Manchester United was Mbeumo had chosen to move there and verbally told them that his preference was to move there,” Castles told The Transfers Podcast. “But I’m not hearing exactly the same on that.
“I think there is a good chance that Mbeumo, should Tottenham get to the price that Brentford are asking, that he might choose Spurs ahead of Manchester United.
“There are a couple of obvious reasons for that. One is that it allows him to stay in London and secondly it allows him to carry on playing for Thomas Frank, who has joined Tottenham as the replacement for Ange Postecoglou.”
United considering €100m Hugo Ekitike as Mbeumo alternative
United are pushing to make Mbeumo their next major summer signing after the €74m capture of Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, although they have looked at other options in case they miss out on the Brentford star.

Castles confirmed United’s interest in Hugo Ekitike, as well as Chelsea’s desire to sign the Frenchman, although Bundesliga expert Ronan Murphy warned that Eintracht Frankfurt are unlikely to compromise on their €100m asking price.
“They want €100m and they don’t negotiate down on these prices,” Murphy told The Transfers Podcast. “Look at Luka Jovic, €63m to Real Madrid, Randal Kolo Muani, €95m to Paris Saint-Germain, Omar Marmoush is the most recent example.
“Frankfurt get the money they’re looking for. And maybe next season Ekitike might still be at Frankfurt if they keep asking for €100m, because they don’t need to sell and they are in the Champions League, so they have money to play with.”
