Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk are set to sign new contracts with Liverpool.

Romano says that Liverpool are confident that a deal to extend the stay of the two stars is all but done.

The Italian transfer journalist says that Liverpool are hoping to complete and announce the new contracts as soon as possible.

He also adds, though, that Trent Alexander-Arnold is close to completing his free transfer to Real Madrid.

Both Salah and Van Dijk see their contracts expire at the end of the season and, with just over two months until the deals run out, there has been big concern around Anfield.

Romano’s confirmation tallies up with multiple reports elsewhere that Liverpool have finally come to an agreement with the pair.

Salah, 32, and Van Dijk, 33, are regarded as two of the greatest players in the history of Liverpool

Together they have won a host of titles, including the Premier League and Champions League.

Salah has scored an incredible 243 goals in 394 games and is enjoying another brilliant season this term as he has the most goals and assists in Europe’s top leagues.

Van Dijk, meanwhile, has been back to his best at the heart of the defence having established himself as arguably the world’s best defender earlier in his Liverpool career.

Thanks to Salah and Van Dijk’s performances, Liverpool are racing away with the Premier League title.

Van Dijk, who will be 34 in July, has been the captain of the Reds since the 2023/24 season.

Salah has on numerous occasions this season expressed his disappointment at Liverpool dragging their feet in extension talks. But it appears a deal has finally been done.

As for Alexander-Arnold, it appears as if Liverpool won’t be able to turn that situation around.

It is unanimously reported that a free transfer move to Real Madrid is all but done when his contract expires at the end of June.
