Fans left stunned by how ex-Chelsea star, 37, looks now after moving to Brazil: 'Is this real!?'

Fans have been left in disbelief after a recent image of a former Chelsea star who looks very different to his Stamford Bridge days went viral online.

The defender, 37, had two spells at Chelsea between 2011 and 2019, and won the Premier League, Champions League, two FA Cups and the Europa League twice with the club.

He joined Flamengo in 2021, and now plays for another Brazilian club, Fortaleza, after completing his transfer earlier this year.

David Luiz, who also spent two years at Arsenal, was famed for his afro haircut while playing in England, but those days appear to be long gone now.

During Fortaleza’s 2-1 defeat by Palmeiras on Sunday, Luiz was pictured in action with his hair now much shorter and a visible bald patch on the top of his head.

He will turn 38 on Tuesday, and supporters on social media suggested his age has finally caught up with him as they were left shocked by Luiz’s transformation.

Luiz, who earned 57 international caps for Brazil, is still playing regularly after returning to his homeland.

He has featured in all five of Fortaleza’s league matches so far this season.

His team have picked up five points to date and sit 13th in Brazil’s top division.
