Flamengo want Jorginho signed from Arsenal before Club World Cup, with Brazilian side pushing for early deal on free transfer

Flamengo want Arsenal midfielder Jorginho in time for the Club World Cup.

The Brazilian side are in advanced talks over signing the 33-year old, having made an approach in December.

They are now trying to close agreement on a deal early so that he can be registered to face Tunis in their opening group game on June 17.

The next game after that would see Jorginho face his former club Chelsea on June 20.

Jorginho has been recovering from a punctured lung after being injured against Brentford last month.

Though born in Brazil, he moved to Italy as a 15-year old and has been capped 57 times by the Azzurri.
