Football chiefs have revealed a shock new law to clamp down on ‘s***housery’, with the rule coming into effect this summer.
The International Football Association Board (IFAB) has announced that players who commit ‘unsporting behaviour’ will be shown a yellow card and sent off if they are deemed to have acted in a ‘disrespectful’ manner.
The new law, which will come into effect on June 1, is designed to tackle the growing problem of ‘s***housery’ in the game, which has become increasingly prevalent in recent years.
The new law states that any player who “uses offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures” or “acts in a provocative or inflammatory manner” will be shown a yellow card and sent off.
The law also states that any player who “deliberately distracts an opponent by making an obvious action without the ball” or “deliberately leaves the field of play without the referee’s permission” will also be shown a yellow card and sent off.
The new law is part of a wider effort by IFAB to tackle the problem of ‘s***housery’ in the game, which has been described as “a form of cheating” by the organisation.
