Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has claimed Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin are a ‘good fit’ for the club following their moves to the club this week.

Werner has joined on loan from RB Leipzig until the end of the season to boost Postecoglou’s forward options.

Tottenham then sealed the £25million signing of Romanian international defender Dragusin on Thursday, after seeing off competition from Bayern Munich.

Postecoglou said Dragusin had bought into what the club are trying to create.

‘We knew that was a priority position for us in the window. We knew that if the right opportunity came up in January we’d move,’ Postecoglou said.

‘We did a fair bit of work on it. Once we knew the direction we were going in, Johan and his team did a lot of background work on him.

‘After my chats with him I could tell how he would fit in.

‘I don’t try to sell anything, it’s just a conversation. It’s just a conversation about what I believe and my thoughts on them as players and where they fit in.’

Postecoglou also dismissed concerns over Werner following a challenging spell in the at London rivals Chelsea.

The 27-year-old star, who arrived at Chelsea in 2020 for £47.5million, struggled to adapt in the Premier League after a series of missed chances saw his confidence wane.

Werner scored 10 goals across 56 Premier League matches for the Blues.

The German international is expected to provide cover while Son Heung-min is at the Asian Cup, while Spurs have the option to make his move permanent in the summer for £14.5m.

‘Particularly with Son [Heung-min] going away for a period of time, we felt we needed another player in the final third,’ Postecoglou said.
