Turkey wonderkid Arda Guler has been hailed by fans for his ‘ice cold’ reaction to their second goal against Austria, as his country sealed a place in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals with a 2-1 victory.
Merih Demiral opened the scoring after just 56 seconds, before the defender headed in a second just before the hour mark from a Guler corner.
Plastic beer cups were thrown by Austrian supporters at Real Madrid teenager Guler when he walked over to take the corner.
Television footage showed the 19-year-old’s reaction to providing the assist, as he turned to the Austria fans and pointed to his head.
Fans took to social media to praise the youngster, with one writing his celebration was ‘ice COLD,’ while another said the teenager was ‘built different’.

While there was one Real Madrid fan who called Guler a ‘Mesut Ozil regen’ before adding that the youngster is ‘here to rule’.
Austria pulled a goal back in the 66th minute through Michael Gregoritsch, before Turkey’s Mert Gunok pulled off the save of the tournament in the 94th minute to help his nation dramatically reach the quarter-finals.
Also during last night’s game, Marcel Sabitzer of Austria was struck by an item which appeared to have been thrown by Turkey supporters.
Sabitzer had previously seen plastic cups thrown in his direction as he went to take a corner as Austria aimed to fight back after Turkey had taken a 2-0 lead in Leipzig.

Sabitzer briefly fell to the floor and clutched his head, while Turkey players appeared to appeal to their supporters not to thrown objects.
The Austrian star pointed out the object to match officials which was taken away by a member of staff.
UEFA has hit nations with over £1million of fines during the tournament over the behaviour of supporters.
