Arsenal fans have been left stunned by the sudden rise in airfares to Eindhoven after being drawn against Dutch champions PSV in the Champions League.
Mikel Arteta’s side knew they were set for a trip to the Netherlands in the round of 16 and were confirmed to play PSV during the draw for the latter stages of the competition on Friday morning.
But the rise in prices for flights from London airports on March 4, when the away leg is set to take place, has left many shocked.
Before the fixture was confirmed a return flight from London to Eindhoven cost around £40. In fact, flying from London Stansted a month later currently costs £34.70 with Ryanair.
But the same flight on the day of the match will set fans back a staggering £753.13.
The astronomical hike has angered many and is sure to lead many to seek alternative routes or avoid the match altogether.

Gunners fans can expect to pay almost 20 times more for a return ticket from London to Eindhoven on the day of the match

The clash against the Dutch champions will be the second meeting of the sides in consecutive seasons after they were drawn against each otherin the group stages last term.
The Gunners ran out 4-0 victors at home in September before earning a 1-1 draw in the Netherlands three months later.
Arteta’s men will expect to ease past Pete Bosz’s side, who beat a much-changed Liverpool side in the final league phase match before impressively knocking Juventus out of the competition in the play-off round.
Friday’s draw placed Liverpool, the Gunners, and Aston Villa all on the same side of the competition’s round-of-16 draw.
Arsenal will face Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid if they get past the Eredivisie outfit. Their most likely opponent in the last four will be the Reds, though a rematch against PSG or even Villa is certainly a possibility.
This means that the potential of an all-English quarter-final and semi-final is larger than it has been in several years.
Savings from trips up and down the country may be welcome this year, given the costly sums needed to venture into Europe.
