Aston Villa 1-1 Bournemouth: Evanilson’s late equaliser secures a draw

Evanilson rescued a point for Bournemouth as he headed in a 96th-minute equaliser at Aston Villa on Saturday.

Ross Barkley had earlier scored his first Villa goal since January 2021.

Cherries goalkeeper Mark Travers as a strong contender for the Player of the Match award as he made seven saves throughout Saturday’s game.

But the busiest man of the match was referee Chris Kavanagh, who dished out 13 yellow cards. 

Villa thought they had taken the lead midway through the first half when captain John McGinn curled home from 15 yards.

But the goal was eventually ruled out following a VAR review because ‘factual evidence’ showed that the ball had left the field of play moments before Ollie Watkins assisted McGinn.
