Barcelona have reportedly set their sights on Hull City winger Jaden Philogene after deeming the signing of Nico Williams unrealistic.
The Spanish giants are looking to bolster their attack this summer and were keen on adding the electric Athletic Bilboa star to their ranks. However, with the club’s ongoing financial constraints still an issue, an alternative has been muted.
According to Spanish outlet Relevo, Barcelona have identified the former Aston Villa youngster as their plan b and have already been in contact with Hull City over a transfer.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a superb debut season with the Tigers, scoring 12 and assisting six in 32 appearances in the second-flight.
The report goes on to claim that Barcelona are interested in acquiring the player on an initial loan to assess his suitability for the squad. Philogene could replace ex-Leeds star Raphinha, who is set to be on the chopping block this summer.

The Spanish giants believe that completing a deal for Atletic Bilboa’s Nico Williams will be unrealistic in this transfer window
Philogene joined Hull City for only £5million last summer, five years after he was snapped up by Villa’s academy from the Pro:Direct Academy in London.
The talented forward had caught the eye of several European giants including PSG, Borussia Dortmund and Barca before signing his first professional contract in 2019.
Philogene also had loan spells in the Championship with Stoke City and Cardiff City.
The England Under 21 international scored a goal which has become a Puskas Award contender. The effort saw him produce an exquisite rabona that curled into the far corner of the net against Rotherham United.
He has two years remaining on his contract with the Tigers with an option for a third.
