Joao Palhinha’s move to Bayern Munich is back on after negotiations between the German giants and Fulham reached an advanced stage.

The midfielder, currently preparing to play for Portugal at Euro 2024, was set to move to the Bundesliga club last summer, only for the move to break down at the last minute.

The Portuguese flew to Germany for a medical on the move to Munich, and was ready to seal the deal on the deadline day of the summer window.

But Fulham pulled the plug on the move, after their failure to find a replacement for the midfielder before the window closed.

Now, according to Sky Germany, the deal has been revived and the 28-year-old is set make a move for around £35-40million.

Palhinha has remained the club’s number target for the position, as new boss Vincent Kompany after a trophy-less season for the German club.

A verbal agreement is said to have been completed and now the clubs need to finalise the deal, with Bayern looking to wrap up the transfer before the Euros begin next Friday.

The midfielder joined Fulham in 2022 from Sporting and was named the club’s player of the year in his first season at the club, after an impressive debut campaign.

In all, he’s played 79 times for the Cottagers, netting eight goals, and built up a reputation as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League.

He’s now set to be a key player for the national team as they look to replicate the squad of 2016, by winning the Euros.

Palhinha has 27 caps to his name for the national team, and two goals, and is likely to start alongside Bruno Fernandes in midfield for Roberto Martinez’s side.
