Bayern Munich have provided an update on the fitness of Harry Kane after he limped off during the 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund.
Despite Bayern controlling much of the early portion of the game, Jamie Gittins fired Dortmund ahead against the run of play, with the England youth international opening the scoring after 27 minutes in Der Klassiker.
Just minutes later Kane went down off the ball and could be seen clutching his left leg with the severity of the issue immediately apparent as he signalled over Bayern’s medical staff.
The England captain received treatment on the pitch but was ultimately unable to continue and hobbled off to be replaced by veteran forward Thomas Muller at the Signal Iduna Park.
Bayern have issued an update on the injury the striker suffered, though they did not provide a timescale on his return.
The Bundesliga giants posted on X: ‘Harry Kane suffered a small muscle fibre tear in his right thigh during yesterday’s match against Borussia Dortmund.

‘After an examination by our medical department, Kane will be sidelined for the time being.’
Kane’s condition will of huge concern to Bayern boss Vincent Kompany, as the Belgian looks to return Die Roten back to the top of German football in his first season in charge in Bavaria.
After being named Bundesliga top scorer in his first campaign at the club, Kane has picked up right where he left off this season.
In 11 league appearances leading up to Saturday’s showdown, Kane had netted 14 goals and added seven assists.
The 31-year-old has proven similarly prolific in Europe, with five goals from five starts in the Champions League as Bayern sit in 13th place in the competition’s revamped league format.
