Bayern Munich are eyeing a shock deal for a former team-mate of Harry Kane’s as Thomas Tuchel looks to bolster his squad to ensure the German giants stay on course for the title this season.
The Bavarian outfit are trailing in the race for the title with Leverkusen topping the table on 42 points, while Bayern are four points behind with a game in hand.
Winning the title should be the minimum expectation for the German side this season as they also bid to win the Champions League – having already been dumped out of the German Cup in a stunning defeat by minnows Saarbrucken.
To add further depth to his squad, Tuchel now wants Bayern to sign a defender from the Premier League who has played with his star man Kane before – and Bayern have already struck a verbal agreement.
Sky in Germany claim out of favour Tottenham man Eric Dier is on Bayern’s list of targets this month and that a deal in principle has been reached.

The report goes on to say that there have been ‘talks and ideas’ about a permanent move for the England international – but there is ‘no final decision yet’.
Dier was a player discussed by Bayern last summer, it adds, saying that contact ‘has never been lost’.
However, the club are also exploring alternatives in case the deal doesn’t come to fruition – with Tuchel ‘putting pressure’ on club officials to add to his squad and is ‘aiming for new signings as soon as possible’.
Another Premier League player that has been ruled out as a target of Bayern’s is Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo, who is ‘not a topic’ of discussion.
Dier has fallen out of favour at Tottenham and has just one start under boss Ange Postecoglou
Dier will be eager to get some playing time under his belt after finding himself out of favour under Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou this season.
The 29-year-old has started just one game for Tottenham in the Premier League, with the Australian preferring a centre-back partnership of Cristian Romero and Mickey van de Ven.
But brutally, the manager has opted to play full-backs Emerson Royal and Ben Davies ahead of him when both his first-choice defenders have been unavailable during a huge injury crisis this season.
Dier is one of Spurs’ longest-serving players after joining from Sporting Lisbon in 2014 and has played 365 times across his eight-year spell.
