Chris Sutton discusses the future of VAR in the Premier League on It’s All Kicking Off! with clubs set to vote on its removal for next season.

The future of VAR in the Premier League is up for discussion this summer, but Chris Sutton believes the status quo will remain the same come the start of next season.

As announced on Wednesday, Wolves are campaigning to scrap VAR next season after being on the end of several controversial refereeing decisions this season and believe the decision review system is ‘undermining the value of the Premier League brand’.

They have submitted a resolution to trigger a vote at the league’s AGM in June and will need 13 of the other 19 clubs to agree with them. The Premier League does not believe scrapping VAR is the right way forward.

And speaking about the future of the technology on the latest edition of the It’s All Kicking Off! podcast, Mail Sport columnist Sutton sympathises with Wolves’ aggrievances but is adamant that nothing will change, despite his own personal issues with VAR.

‘I think football fans are sick and tired of that. I think the communication aspect within the stadium, we could improve,’ he told Mail Sport colleague Ian Ladyman

‘We can go on about what is wrong with VAR, but it is a bit of a case of sour grapes with Wolves, albeit, I would feel hard done by and wronged if I was them.’
