Bellamy was handed the manager’s job in July after former boss Rob Page was sacked following Wales’s failure to qualify for Euro 2024.
The ex-Liverpool star was not everyone’s first choice to lead the national team’s resurgence after being involved in a number of controversial incidents during his playing career.
But ahead of Bellamy taking charge of his first game against Turkey in the Nations League on Friday night, Sutton has leapt to his defence.
Sutton has claimed some opinions of Bellamy are ‘deeply unfair’, and insists he was a ‘model professional’.
