Newcastle defender Dan Burn is set to win a maiden England call-up as part of Thomas Tuchel’s first squad.
Mail Sport understands the new Three Lions boss has been taken by the versatility of the 32-year-old, who has made the 55-man shortlist from which the German will select his group to face Latvia and Albania later this month.
Burn, who can play at left-sided centre half and left back, has been outstanding for Newcastle this season and a regular in Eddie Howe’s team.
His last match before the international break will be Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley.
Incidentally, it is a season-ending injury to his club-mate, Lewis Hall, that has opened up a space on the left side of England’s defence.
We understand Chelsea’s Levi Colwill is also in contention for inclusion for the World Cup qualifier double header.

Burn, who can play left back or centre back, has impressed Tuchel with his versatility
Tuchel watched Burn during Newcastle’s 1-0 win at West Ham on Monday night and is said to be giving serious consideration to what would still be a shock call-up, despite the player’s excellent form.
England will face Latvia on March 21, with the Armenia fixture to be played on March 24. Both will be played at Wembley.
