Diego Carlos’ yoyo move to Fenerbahce is back on.

The Aston Villa defender was due to join Fenerbahce on Monday but the deal was held up as Wolves made a move for the 31-year-old. However, Carlos has opted to join up with Jose Mourinho in Turkey.

Wolves made a rival £10million offer for Carlos  as his on-off move to Fenerbahce stalled again late last week. The 31-year old had been expected to arrive in Istanbul on Monday night ahead of being presented as a Fenerbahce player but terms were still be finalised.

The Brazilian centre back was the main target for Jose Mourinho as Mail Sport reported earlier this month and a fee was agreed around £10m.

Wolves have been pursuing two centre backs for this window having already signed Emmanuel Agbadou from Reims early in the month, and Carlos would have been brought in to help their survival bid.

Fenerbahce’s fierce rivals Galatasaray also enquired about Carlos before Mourinho’s club returned to negotiations.
