Footage of Arne Slot reacting to Manchester United’s Antony has emerged and delighted Liverpool fans.
The Reds are closing in on Slot as they work on a deal with Feyenoord to make him their next manager when Jurgen Klopp leaves the club at the end of the season.
Anfield officials contacted the Dutch champions on Wednesday with a first offer of compensation for the 49-year-old, who does not have a release clause in his contract.
The situation is developing quickly and talks to bring Slot to Anfield could even be concluded before the weekend. He faces a major task taking over from Klopp, who has been at the Anfield helm for nearly nine years, and won the hearts of Reds supporters.
Footage surrounding an altercation with United’s Antony, however, will get him off to a good start as he looks to form a bond with the fans similar to that of the German’s.

The clip, which went viral on social media after Liverpool’s interest in Slot was confirmed, is from March 2022 in a game between Ajax and Feyenoord in the Eredivisie.
Antony, then at Ajax, can be seen hitting the deck in apparent pain in the final few moments of the match, stumbling across Slot’s technical area before falling.
He winced before returning to the field, and hit the deck again when being attended to by Dusan Tadic and Davy Klaassen.
Feyenoord players protested, and Antony was shown a second yellow card, followed by a red, having been booked earlier in the game.
The camera can be seen cutting to Slot, who bursts out laughing at the winger’s antics that saw him given his marching orders.
With Antony now playing for rivals Manchester United, Liverpool fans replied to the video with positive reviews of Dutchman Slot’s actions, which could be a sign of a rivalry to come.
‘Gone right up in my estimation[s] after that,’ one fan posted in response.
‘Loving him already,’ another wrote, while a third posted: ‘OK I’m warming to him.’
Liverpool fans praised their potential new boss in the replies to the video on social media
Mail Sport reported on Tuesday how Slot is Liverpool’s preferred choice for their next manager
Mail Sport reported on Tuesday how Slot had emerged as Liverpool’s preferred candidate to take over from Klopp, who has four games left at the club.
Slot, who was considered by both Tottenham and Chelsea last summer, has found immense success since joining the Dutch side in 2021 and has become one of the most progressive coaches in European football.
He recently guided his side Feyenoord to victory in the KNVB Cup; the second trophy he has won in charge of the Rotterdam giants, having made them domestic champions 12 months ago.
His accolades at the Dutch side have made him an ideal candidate to succeed Klopp at Anfield and the Reds have now stepped up their pursuit of the 45-year-old.
