Fans spot Rasmus Hojlund 'shove Rangers staff member' as Man United celebrate Bruno Fernandes' last gasp winner in Europa League clash

A bizarre angle of Bruno Fernandes’ celebrations from Thursday night has resurfaced in which team-mate Rasmus Hojlund appears to shove a Rangers coach.

Manchester United won it at the death after Cyriel Dessers had seemingly earned the visitors a point in the 88th minute, only for Fernandes to snatch all three in the second added minute.

It was a much-needed win for an inconsistent and under-fire Man United, who were coming off the back of a 3-1 defeat by Brighton, and it moves them into fourth in the Europa League standings.

Yet there was one surprise moment that emerged during Fernandes’ celebrations, when Hojlund appeared to shove a member of Rangers’ staff.

As the Portuguese midfielder made for the corner of Old Trafford to celebrate with the fans, a man – believed to be a member of the visitors’ coaching staff – bumped into Fernandes, seemingly on their way down the tunnel.

Fernandes initially looks surprised before Hojlund arrives and pushes the man away with a hand to the chest.

The man does not react but carries on his way through the celebrating group of United players, and there is not thought to have been any lingering tension from the incident.

Fans on social media were quick to hail Hojlund’s response, though the suspected coach showed no signs of ill intent or aggression towards the United players.

One joked: ‘Hojlund Wrestling ability finally coming in clutch.’

Another wrote: ‘No way bro barely showed any physicality on the pitch but he just shoved that physio like nothing.’

And a third added: ‘Why was he even walking there it’s like he waited and then decided to walk when the players celebrate.’

Meanwhile a fourth seemed to disapprove of Hojlund’s actions, writing: ‘0 goals in 16 games but he pushed an innocent man just trying to get to the tunnel, classy as always Rasmus.’

It brought an end to a three-game run of positive results for the Scottish side, who had beaten St Johnstone, Aberdeen and Fraserburgh by an aggregate score of 11-1 in the previous 12 days.

United meanwhile will be hoping to use the positive result as a springboard heading into the weekend’s clash with Fulham in their bid to rise up the table and get back into the top half of the Premier League.

However, Ruben Amorim has since provided a concerning injury update on two key defenders after both were subbed off in Thursday’s Europa League win.

Defenders Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt both started the encounter in Amorim’s preferred back-three alongside Lisandro Martinez but had to be replaced as the match progressed.

Yoro was recalled to the starting side by Amorim after struggling against Southampton in his last appearance, while De Ligt maintained his run of starts but switched to playing at the heart of the back-three instead.

Both had largely kept Rangers attackers quiet throughout the evening and it was only when both had been hooked by Amorim that the Scottish visitors scored to threaten a potential comeback.

Confirming Yoro and De Ligt had each felt discomfort in their leg during the Europa League victory, the United boss told TNT Sports: ‘He [De Ligt] felt something in his leg.

‘Also Leny [Yoro], so we cannot risk anything. We have to win but we have to protect the players and show that everyone matters in this moment.’

De Ligt’s withdrawal will be of the most concern after the Dutchman was substituted at half-time and will now require further assessment ahead of the weekend’s critical Premier League clash.
