Gary Neville suggests bringing in Phil Foden and Jadon Sancho for England’s final Euro 2024 group stage match against Slovenia.

Gary Neville has named two England stars who he would bring into the side for their final group stage clash against Slovenia on Tuesday.

The Three Lions put in an underwhelming display against Denmark on Thursday evening, which saw them held to a 1-1 draw despite Harry Kane’s opener.

The result leaves Gareth Southgate’s side two points clear at the top of Group C but needing a win against Slovenia to avoid a potential early exit from the tournament.

Ahead of the game, Neville has now named the Three Lions duo that he would hand a starting place on Tuesday in order to ‘disrupt’ their current struggles.

Speaking on ITV, former full-back Neville said: ‘He’ll disrupt it, he has to. He talked about a partner for Rice and maybe some pace up-front alongside Kane.

‘That’s Gordon and that’s Mainoo. Rice must have a partner in midfield that can help get us playing out from the back.

‘I do actually think he could be disruptive enough to do what he’s done in previous tournaments, which is go to a three at the back. But it’s that left wing-back slot which is a little bit difficult for Gareth’.

Newcastle winger Gordon is yet to step foot on the pitch during Euro 2024, with Southgate opting for the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Eberechi Eze as impact substitutes instead.

Meanwhile, Man United midfielder Mainoo has came on for the final stages of their opening match against Serbia but has maintained a bit-part role thus far.

Former Three Lions star Neville also recently revealed that he would feel ‘uncomfortable’ if Southgate opted to drop Phil Foden from their line-up.

‘The big question mark is obviously around Phil Foden,’ Neville began. ‘There is something inside me that feels instinctively very uncomfortable leaving Phil Foden out of an England team.

‘Purely because if we can’t make Phil Foden and Trent Alexander-Arnold international football players for England then we’ve got a real probem.

‘Other nations wouldn’t do that, and we would regret it in years to come.’

A potential move to a back three could see Kyle Walker move inside to centre back alongside John Stones and Marc Guehi, thought it would likely involve more attacking emphasis being placed on Kieran Tripper, already out of position at left back.

If Foden were to keep his place, meanwhile, with Mainoo being added in, it would likely mean Bukayo Saka would find himself relegated to the bench, with Jude Bellingham unlikely to be dropped.
