Chelsea have reportedly failed in their pursuit of signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen despite ‘making a late offer’.
Mail Sport had reported earlier this week that Al-Ahli had tabled a £55million bid for Osimhen, with Chelsea also having upped the ante to land their long-standing target.
Representatives from the west London side travelled to Naples on Friday but failed to strike a deal with the player.
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea made a final offer to the Nigerian with just minutes remaining until the deadline, but didn’t even get a response.
Saudi side Al-Ahli looked set to sign Osimhen but they instead turned their attention to Ivan Toney, who looks set to complete his move to the Middle East.
