Italian Media: Newcastle’s Champions League Spot Not Deserved, Preview of Eddie Howe’s European Debut against AC Milan by Craig Hope of Mail Sport

Italian media have slated Newcastle as not being ‘worthy’ of their place in the Champions League as AC Milan prepare to host Eddie Howe’s side at the San Siro on Tuesday.

Newcastle kick off their European campaign at one of football’s most iconic stadiums and will attempt to get off to a flying start against a Milan team still licking their wounds from a 5-1 defeat against rivals Inter at the weekend.

Sandro Tonali returns to his former club for the first time since his £52million summer move to England’s north east and has been identified as the ‘dangerman’ by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper have also looked to unnerve Newcastle by insisting recent defeats mean they are ‘less scary’ than the day the Champions League draw was made.

Mail Sport’s north-east football correspondent Craig Hope reveals what Italian media have been saying about Newcastle in his newspaper analysis video from Milan below.
