Iwobi Supports Smith Rowe at Fulham

Fulham forward Alex Iwobi is backing Emile Smith Rowe to help the club push for a top-half finish this season.

Smith Rowe, a club-record £34million signing from Arsenal, opened the scoring with his first Premier League goal in more than two years, before Iwobi netted a second-half winner.

Iwobi played with Smith Rowe at Arsenal and believes he can reach his full potential at Fulham after a frustrating spell with injuries.

‘In pre-season he got two goals and he’s just getting sharper by the day in training,’ said Iwobi.

‘I’ve seen his qualities over the years.

‘He’s such an attacking threat, very intelligent on and off the ball, and he’s the sort of player we need, especially as we’re trying to be a bit more dynamic.’

Fulham finished 13th last season having been 10th the campaign before that, and Iwobi says Smith Rowe can help Marco Silva’s side get back to challenging for the top half.

‘I feel like we’ve got at least two players per position now,’ he said. ‘It’s healthy competition. We want to achieve and go into the top 10.’
