Fans have joked on social media that Jack Grealish and James Maddison will be jetting off to Ibiza for their ‘annual trip’ this summer after both were left out of Gareth Southgate’s final squad for Euro 2024.
It was revealed on Thursday that the pair would not be travelling to Germany for this summer’s tournament, while Harry Maguire is also due to miss out having sustained a calf injury earlier in the season.
Grealish and Maddison have largely struggled to live up to the standards that we have come to expect from them after enduring an underwhelming season, with both players also battling through injuries during the 2023-24 campaign.
Following their omission from England’s Euro 2024 squad, fans have taken to social media to joke that the pair will now use their time off to take a break from football and jet out to Ibiza. It comes after Grealish had returned from a brief getaway following Man City’s title victory, to participate in England’s Euro training camp last week.
Several even joked that the Man City star had ‘agreed a four-week deal to join O Beach on loan’ by posting a picture of Grealish with the popular Ibiza day club’s co-owner, Wayne Lineker.

‘BREAKING: Jack Grealish has completed a four-week loan deal to O Beach, Ibiza, after being left out of the England squad,’ one X (formerly Twitter) user wrote.
Grealish has regularly frequented the party spot on the Balearic island in the past, with Lineker having posted a snap of the two together on his Instagram in 2023, captioning the photo: ‘Boy’s back!!! @jackgrealish annual Ibiza trip annual pic #yesjack #ibiza20233’.
The 28-year-old Man City star has been pictured on several occasions enjoying parties at the infamous day club. Sports stars from around the world regularly frequent the venue – with Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott being pictured there just over a week ago.
Fans made light of Grealish’s regular visits to the Spanish island years, with the winger pictured last summer taking over the decks at the popular nightclub Hi, going back-to-back with popular Australian DJ Fisher.
Another added: ‘A moment of silence for Jack Grealish’s liver. O Beach have just confirmed his loan signing from Man City for the next four weeks.’
Maddison has also previously been seen at the popular beach club, having frequented Ibiza on several occasions in the past few years. In 2021, the Tottenham star also missed out on a call-up to Euro 2020 and was subsequently seen partying with several women in Ibiza. He was seen alongside Grealish and Everton midfielder Dele Alli relaxing on a sun lounger following the conclusion of the Premier league season.
His omission came after he had allegedly breached lockdown rules and went to a party in April of that year.

The 27-year-old has also been pictured at O Beach Club in Ibiza with Lineker previously, and fans poked fun at him and Grealish, with one posting a meme of duo Kevin and Perry from the film Kevin & Perry Go Large – two teenagers that attempt to travel to Ibiza in a bid to become international DJs.

The X user likened Grealish and Maddison to Kevin and Perry, writing: ‘Jack Grealish and James Maddison upon finding out that they aren’t in the England Squad.’
Another posted a shot of Grealish smiling while wearing an England training top, saying: ‘Grealish seeing Maddison in Ibiza.’
Curtis Jones, Jarrad Branthwaite, James Trafford and Jarrell Quansah were also informed that they would not be included in the final squad.
But Maddison and Grealish were the two headline casualties with Southgate opening up on his decision to omit the pair on Thursday.
‘They’ve been tough calls we’ve gone over and over and over as a group of staff to try to be fair, to get the right rationale.
‘And we back our decisions but recognise we could have gone a different route. Both of the boys are big characters, fabulous team-mates, and great boys to work with. So yes, sad to deliver that news to them.’

Following the announcement, Maddison released a statement online admitting his disappointment but that he’d use the snub as motivation to bounce back.
He said: ‘Devastated doesn’t quite cut it. Trained well and worked hard all week but if I’m honest with myself, my form for Spurs when coming back from injury in the second half of the season probably wasn’t at the levels I had set which gave Gareth a decision to make.
‘I still thought there would be a space for me in a 26-man squad as I feel I bring something different & had been a mainstay in this whole qualifying campaign for Euro 2024 in Germany but the manager has made the decision and I have to respect that.
‘I’ll be back, I have no doubt. Wishing the boys all the luck in the world out in Germany, an unbelievable group and lads that I literally call some of my best friends. I genuinely hope football comes home.’
