Jamie Carragher has revealed who he believes will win the Premier League title this season in his latest round of big predictions for 2025.
Liverpool have surged to the top of the table after a near-faultless start to Arne Slot’s first campaign in charge and they hold a commanding six-point gap over Arsenal, having won 13 of their 17 games to date and suffered defeat just once.
A 1-0 victory against Ipswich yesterday sent the Gunners above fellow contenders Chelsea, who currently hold 35 points and are seven adrift of the league leaders.
Enzo Maresca and his players have looked to play down their title chances but Carragher believes there is indeed an enthralling three-horse race. However, the pundit is confident one team will eventually fall away from the pace.
‘It is between Liverpool and Arsenal,’ Carragher said, writing for The Telegraph.
‘Enzo Maresca has done an excellent job at Chelsea this season. I was not sure when the club opted not to keep Mauricio Pochettino last summer, but they appointed a coach with a specific profile and Maresca has brought the squad together.

Chelsea are also surprise underdogs despite Enzo Maresca’s insistence they aren’t in the race
‘Having said that, I agree with him that Chelsea are not quite ready to become champions. They will need another goalkeeper and centre half before they can go the distance.
‘Arsenal’s biggest problem right now is their injuries. They managed to avoid too much disruption in the last two years but their squad has been stretched this time.’
He added: ‘But I am speaking with my head and heart when saying Liverpool will pip them to first place. Arne Slot’s attacking options are the strongest in the Premier League. My only worry for Liverpool is if they pick up injuries to their big players.
‘If they can avoid them, they will be difficult to catch. Chelsea will finish third and despite their issues I see Man City finishing in the last Champions League spot.’
Carragher has also delivered his predictions on the three clubs who will be relegated from the top-flight and declared his preferred Carabao Cup winner.
He said: ‘I fear the clubs promoted from the Championship last season – Ipswich, Southampton and Leicester City – will return there, and if Liverpool do not win the Carabao Cup, hopefully Newcastle United or Tottenham will.
‘We need new names on the domestic cups in 2025 and beyond.’
Liverpool are also in contention to win the Champions League this season, according to Reds legend Carragher, but he has warned they will face stern competition from serial winners Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan in a four-way tussle.
The pundit believes the in-form Mohamed Salah will scoop up a host of awards next year

Mohamed Salah’s future at Anfield remains uncertain and the superstar forward, 32, is able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from January 1.

But despite the lack of clarity off the pitch, Salah is continuing to impress for the Merseysiders, scoring 19 goals and registering 15 assists across all competitions.
As a result, Carragher says Salah is capable of being crowned as the Premier League Player of the Year and the winner of the Ballon d’Or next year, and has also named him as his favourite to take home the PFA and FWA Player of the Year awards.
‘Salah’s goal and assist tally is consistently amazing and there is no bigger admirer of his talent than me, regardless of what his fan club on social media might say!’ he said.
‘Salah has stated in the past that he wants to become the second African to win the Ballon d’Or after George Weah did so in 1995. I think he has a great chance.’
