Lamine Yamal’s agent has reportedly requested an immediate pay increase for the teenager from Barcelona.

The 17-year-old became one of Europe’s most famous teenagers with his astonishing performances as Spain won Euro 2024.

He scored a beautiful goal in the semi-finals against France and assisted four throughout the competition as he reigned supreme on the right flank.

Now, his ‘super agent’ Jorge Mendes – who counts Bernardo Silva, Ederson, and Diogo Jota among his clients – has told Barca to bring a scheduled pay increase forward.

Barcelona had planned to bump up his salary in 2026, the year in which is contract ends and the point at which they have a private agreement to extend until 2030, as per SPORT.

However, the Spanish outlet reports that Barca’s president Joan Laporta is willing to abid by Mendes’ command and reward Yamal for his progress immediately.

Yamal is of immense value to Barcelona, both in a sporting and commercial sense, so they are willing to reward him rather than make him wait until 2026.

Mendes and Laporta have a close relationship and the agent represents some of the club’s top talents in their La Masia academy, as well as first-team stars such as Alejandro Balde.

Yamal’s release clause is ÂŁ841,000,000 (€1,000,000,000) – a routinely prohibitive figure seen in many Spanish football contracts.

His salary is unclear, although Capology claim he is on around ÂŁ27,000 per week – less than five per cent of what they have Frenkie de Jong listed on at ÂŁ600,000.
