Klopp stated that Liverpool’s performance in the 1-1 draw at home to Manchester City in March was the best display of his tenure.

City took the lead through John Stones in the first half, but Liverpool equalised in the second period courtesy of a penalty from Alexis Mac Allister and caused many problems for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Liverpool also had a penalty claim turned down late on, with Jeremy Doku not punished after catching Mac Allister.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Wolves game, Klopp said: ‘I’d say the best football we ever played was against Man City this season, that day we played the best we had. We had won before and played well but controlling a game v City we never did before. That’s my favourite 60 minutes.’

Klopp stated that Liverpool’s most spectacular performance under him was the remarkable turnaround against Barcelona in 2019, when the Reds were trailing 3-0 from the first leg of the Champions League semi-final but managed to win 4-0 in the second leg.

Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum both scored braces as Liverpool made it through to the final.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s famous quickly-taken corner to set up Origi in that game was hailed by Klopp as the best assist of his tenure.

Liverpool scored many goals under Klopp, but his standout was the one scored by goalkeeper Alisson, who got the winning goal with a header against West Bromwich Albion in 2021.

Klopp also hailed Alisson for making a remarkable save against Napoli in the Champions League in 2018 as the goalkeeper denied Arkadiusz Milik.

In addition, Klopp commented on the best backheel goal scored under him as he elected for Sadio Mane’s brilliant effort in Liverpool’s 5-0 win against Watford in 2019.
