Kate Abdo’s Wedding: Malik Scott Opens Up About Their Stunning Ceremony

Malik Scott has opened up on his intimate wedding day with Kate Abdo and revealed his glamorous wife may fight Katie Price later this year.

Boxing trainer Scott tied the knot with the CBS Sports presenter earlier this month and shared several glamorous snaps from the ceremony in the Malibu hills.

Their relationship was first revealed live on air by pundits Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards in December 2023 and since then, Abdo, 43, and Scott, 43, have shared the occasional glimpse into their private lives for their social media followers.

Scott’s children were present for the close-knit celebration and the happy couple posed for photos with his son and daughter after the nuptials.

Several days after the wedding, Scott remains deeply touched, revealing he was moved to tears after Abdo’s wedding cake gesture.

Speaking to Genting Casino, he said: ‘Kate did something incredibly creative, caring, and compassionate – reflecting the walk of life I come from.

‘She took an old picture of my first ABC Gym in North Philadelphia, where I was raised – the gym that essentially saved my life.

‘She copied the ring from that gym and turned it into a cake, with me in the ring wearing the boxing trunks I had on when I fought Tony Thompson.

‘Those trunks had a design I borrowed from Sugar Ray Leonard when he fought Tommy Hearns the second time, but I added my own colours – pink and black with stripes. She even put herself next to me in a wedding dress.

‘The thoughtfulness and creativity moved me to tears because it took me back to my childhood in that ring, where I faced many challenges, learned hard lessons, and grew.

‘That ring always meant the world to me.’

Scott also shed light on a FaceTime call with Thierry Henry, who has been the butt of jokes declaring he was in love with Abdo, his CBS Sports colleague. The running gag stems from their on-screen chemistry and playful interactions on the show.

‘Thierry, Michah, Jamie – they all sent their wishes,’ Scott added. ‘I actually just got off FaceTime with Thierry. I was proud of the job he did with the Olympics team.

‘What he was up against – no matter how big of a star you are in your craft – transitioning to coaching comes with a lot of pressure.

‘He took a team missing seven to nine of their key players and had just a month to work with them, and they went out fighting, all the way to the finals.

‘His heart, desire, and passion to win – it’s all there. He connects with the players, not just because of who he is but because of the wisdom he shares. It’s very impressive.’

Abdo, meanwhile, is lining up a showdown against Price after revealing she has been offered a debut in the ring by Misfits Boxing. The fight was originally scheduled for August but after a clash with their wedding date, talks are ongoing over a new date.

‘We had too much going on with planning and navigating our schedules,’ Scott said. ‘Even when Kate’s not working, she’s always setting up her next venture, so she really never has downtime. The future’s bright for that, though.

‘I’m in contact with the right people. Kate trains three to four times a week, so we’ll see. It depends on the schedule and how Kate feels.’
