Leonardo Campana’s Stunning Opener Fails to Save Inter Miami as Atlanta Strikes Back with Three Goals before Halftime

A forward named Leo has once again produced some magic for Inter Miami – just not the one you’re thinking of.

With Lionel Messi out of action for his club’s trip to Atlanta, his teammate Leo Campana produced a brilliant goal in the first half to briefly give his side the lead.

In the 25th minute, Miami midfielder Dixon Arroyo tried his luck from roughly 25 yards out and struck the crossbar.

But the ball bounced back to Campana, who chested it down before teeing himself up for a stunning left-footed volley that flew into the roof of the net.

Bleacher Report made a Messi-Campana joke as well, captioning a video of the goal,  ‘Leo M̶e̶s̶s̶i̶ Campana scores a stunner for Inter Miami.’

However, the lead didn’t last long as Tristan Muyumba tied things up in the 36th minute.

And a Kamal Miller own goal gave Atlanta the lead before Brooks Lennon made the score 3-1 for the hosts just before halftime.

Campana wasn’t done for the night, though, and pulled back a penalty in the 53rd minute to cut into Atlanta’s lead.

Giorgos Giakoumakis added a fourth in the 76th minute to restore Atlanta’s two-goal lead.
