Liverpool reunite with adidas in £60MILLION-per-year kit deal – but contract quirk means they must stick with Nike for pre-season tour

Liverpool have signed a deal to reunite with kit supplier adidas from this summer in a deal believed to be worth at least £60million a year.

The agreement will seen the Premier League champions-elect return to wearing adidas for the first time since 2012, after a stint with Nike.

They have been sponsored by the German giants in previous trophy-laden eras including an 11-year stint from 1985 to 1996.

Fans will be delighted with the news since some of the Reds’ most iconic shirts have been made by adidas over the years.

The deal is expected to earn Liverpool a healthy sum which will be further incentivised by on-field performances.

Billy Hogan, the CEO, said: ‘Everyone at the club is incredibly excited to welcome adidas back into the LFC family.

‘We have enjoyed fantastic success together in the past and created some of the most iconic Liverpool kits of all time.

‘Adidas and Liverpool share an ambition of success and we couldn’t be more excited to partner together again as we look forward to creating more incredible kits to help drive on pitch performance.

‘We’d like to thank Nike for their support over the last five years and wish them well for the future.’
