Pep Guardiola’s side opened their Champions League campaign with a stalemate 0-0 draw with Inter Milan in a repeat of the 2023 final.

Despite playing at the Etihad, City showcased a new exclusive away shirt that has been inspired by Oasis.

The legendary Manchester-based rock and roll band recently announced the group – led by City fanatic brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher – are getting back together and the club have got in on the action.

Akanji says that while he ‘liked’ the shirt, it caused some confusion during the match against the Italian champions.

Speaking to beIN SPORTS, the Swiss defender said: ‘I like it a lot. I’d seen it already before i was at the shooting when we did it for Puma.

‘One action i got confused with the referee on the sideline, I thought it was Bernardo (Silva) so i passed the ball to him.

‘But otherwise I like the kit a lot and I’m looking forward to playing more in it.’

City debuted the new fourth strip against Inter and it has been inspired by Oasis’ 30th anniversary of their debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’.

Guardiola and several of his stars were involved in a photoshoot recreating the band’s iconic album cover featuring the kit.

The shirt has been aptly named the ‘The Definitely City kit’ and will be worn during a variety of select Champions League ties throughout the season.
