Manuel Ugarte is absent again from the Paris Saint-Germain squad amidst reports that Manchester United are close to finalising his signing.

On Friday, Les Parisiens are scheduled to face rivals Montpeiller for their Ligue 1 2024-25 home game.

However, their official squad announcement did not include two players who are reportedly close to leaving: Carlos Soler and Manuel Ugarte.

As reported by Mail Sport on Wednesday, the Uruguay international’s £51million (€60million) move to Manchester United was close to an agreement between both clubs.

PSG were reportedly willing to proceed with the signing, but for an amount exceeding €60million, the fee for the midfielder when he was signed from Sporting last year.

Last Friday, Ugarte was also not included in the squad for PSG’s first Ligue 1 match against Le Havre.

The Uruguayan was a regular starter at the beginning of the previous season but lost his place in the team towards the end of the season.

During his first year at PSG, Ugarte featured in 37 games, providing three assists to his team-mates.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Erik ten Hag was personally interested in signing Ugarte, seeking a new midfielder for his team, especially since Casemiro had a disappointing previous campaign.

The news comes after Napoli have shown interest in United’s Scott McTominay for a loan spell, but the Red Devils are only considering a permanent transfer as the player has one year left on his contract.

According to ten Hag, the club is prepared to wait until the final hours in order to secure their last deals on this summer transfer window.

‘Patience, you guys, wait,’ he said. ‘Be patient, sit, wait, keep working very hard. We will always try to make the best squad possible. We have a couple of days, and we will always improve. As long as we have the opportunity, we will look for it. When we have news we will bring it.’

The development comes after the Red Devils have been heavily active in the transfer market, securing several deals such as Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro and former Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

The club had to offload several players to make way for the new signings, with Facundo Pellistri being the latest to depart for a move to Panathinaikos for £6.8m.
