Micah Richards and Thierry Henry were overjoyed when they heard who would be replacing Jamie Carragher on CBS’ Champions League studio coverage tonight.

Carragher will be absent from the studio when Borussia Dortmund play against Paris Saint-Germain tonight because he will be present at the game.

Upon hearing the name, Richards celebrated and roared with excitement, while Henry wore a stunned expression.

He also won Serie A six times and the Champions League in 1996.

The mystery man is none other than Alessandro Del Piero.

He has been involved with CBS before but is still a refreshing face to see and brings some star quality to the line-up.

Carragher almost fell out of his seat upon hearing who would be taking his spot on the broadcaster’s popular Golazo show, which brings a humorous take to covering football.

He will take on a different reporting role from Dortmund and soak up the atmosphere.

The Liverpool legend revealed he is buzzing to experience the famous yellow wall in Borussia’s Dortmund stadium, where they also sing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

‘I can’t wait for this,’ Carragher said as they blasted out the music and he sang aloud.

Peter Schmeichel was distinctly unimpressed with his vocal ability as he joined presenter Susannah Collins on-screen.

They were presenting from the Allianz Arena, where Bayern Munich had just drawn 2-2 with Real Madrid.

‘What I can guarantee you is that when you hear that song [at Dortmund],, it will sound a whole lot better [than Carragher’s singing],’ Schmieichel said.
