An investigation into footage circulating of a shocking altercation between a non-league player and supporters has been launched.
A video, which has gone viral on social media, appears to show supporters fighting with members of the Minehead AFC squad, a club in the Somerset County Football League.
The incident came following Minehead’s 2-1 defeat at home to Stockwood Green, in which they conceded a last-gasp winner.
Following the match, as players from the Somerset side made their way toward the dressing room, a group of fans seemingly clashed with two members of the Minehead squad.
There is then a collision with the supporters as one particular player appearing to receive the brunt of the attack.
He then manages to get inside of the dressing room while the group continue to try get through the door, before the crowd eventually disperses.

Minehead have since released a statement on social media app Facebook confirming an investigation into the incident has begun.
‘We are fully aware and disappointed by the incident that happened at the club yesterday afternoon,’ wrote the club.
‘This is currently being investigated and the relevant authorities are involved. As this is an active investigation, no further comments will be made from us during this time.
Before the statement was released, a Facebook user who had come across the video confirmed that they had reported the clash to the authorities.
They wrote: ‘Just seen the video of the Minehead fans piling in and thumping their own players in the head. Sent the video to the police. Any comments from Minehead AFC?’
Mail Sport have contacted the Avon and Somerset Police who have confirmed they are aware of the incident, but can make no further comment at this time.
The incident are the latest shameful scenes in the grassroots game, coming just one week after parents broke into a mass brawl at a youth football match.ย

That alarming move caused parents and coaches to stream onto the pitch, but from there the footage only gets more worrying.ย
Multiple men rush on to the pitch and start scrapping with each other, with one child bowled over from behind.
From there, dozens of adults rush into the commotion and mothers can be heard screaming as children are shepherded out of the way.
Some continue scrapping for over a minute until some semblance of order appears to be restored.
